Christmas Furoshiki

Over last weekend, I quickly whipped up these Christmas furoshiki wraps – it’s a case of cutting out a square of fabric, then hemming all the sides.

Four squares of folded fabric are laid flat on a wood surface. Each fabric has a different Christmassy pattern on it; one of each fabric has green, red, black, or white background.

They’re way bigger than I imagined! This photo below, with the books for scale, was taken while standing on a couch.

The red fabric is laid out in a square on a dark wood surface. Two books, one a mass-market paperback and the other a large hardcover picture book, are laid in the mcentre of the fabric for scale. They are quite small.

I purchased one metre of each fabric, and what I should have done is cut the metre in in half before I cut out the squares.

Two of the fabrics are used to wrap two rectangular objects; one with a knot and one with ribbon. The other two fabrics are folded into squares and placed nearby the wrapped objects on a wood surface.

Ah well. They’ll still be useful; I could use them for fun Christmassy backgrounds for photos. (And for wrapping large presents, of course.)

Two Christmassy novels are laid flat on the green fabric, accompanied by a reindeer ornament. The fabric has little gold Christmas trees all over it, interspersed with small gold dots.

This year I’ll have another look at the discounted Christmas fabric and make some smaller wraps! Or I could use some stuff I’ve already got – I do have a lot of dark green linen left over…..

Anyways, see ya!
