Pinafores for Adventure

I’ve been making a lot of dresses lately; pants are just too hot for subtropical humidity, I find.

The author stands in front of a hedge, facing the camera and photographed from the shoulders down. She wears a navy V-necked pinafore dress over a pale pink button-down shirt, with a brown leather cross-body bag at her hip. Her hands are on her hips.

This one is Rosery Apparel’s Daisy dress, sans sleeves.

The author stands in front of a hedge, photographed from the neck down. She wears the navy pinafore and pink button-down from before, this time with her hands in the side-seam pockets of the skirt. She also has white shoes on.

I like it as a pinafore with a bit more structure than some of my other pinafores.

Close-up of one of the side seam pockets of the skirt. The author's hand is opening the pocket so the navy and white polka-dot fabric used for the pocket can be seen.

I, of course, put contrasting pockets in. This view of the pattern has a lined bodice, so I used the same fabric for that too. (And forgot to get a photo of it!)

Close-up of the bodice of the pinafore. It closes down the centre front with plain navy buttons, and the skirt is gathered into the bodice.

I also lengthened the bodice a little, and made the waist darts a little less tight.

The author stands in front of a hedge, wearing the navy pinafore as before. She is blurry, because she is spinning in place to show how the skirt billows out.

I love how swooshy the skirt is, perfect for fantasy adventurer imaginings!

The author stands in front of a hedge, as before. She wears the navy pinafore with a small leather cross-body bag, which sits on her hip. Her hands hang down at her sides, one tucked behind the bag.

Especially with a little leather satchel – equip it with a pocket spellbook and some healing potions, and I’m ready to go!

I think my next sewing project will be making this dress in one of the other (sleeved) views – it’d be nice to have a version I could wear as one layer in this heat.

Anyways, see ya!
