Little Blue Pattern Weights

Remember how last post I was talking about making myself some sewing supplies? Well, I finished the pattern weights!

Overhead shot of a blue patchwork zipped pouch on a wood surface. The pouch is a 45-degree angle, and is open. Spilling out from the opening are an assortment of little triangular pattern weights, in various shades and patterns of blue.

And I made them a home! This is the first zipper pouch I’ve made. But first!

Close-up overhead shot of the pattern weights. They are triangular prism-shaped, and there are 12. Six are in lighter blues, and six are darker blues. Prints vary - there's florals, stars, swirls, books, paisleys, and some Doctor Who fabric.

The weights. These are all fabrics from my stash, and I chose six lighter blues and six darker blues for a bit of ~variety~.

Close-up of the author's hand holding three of the weights. She could probably fit five in her hand, as they are fairly small. Blurred in the background are the rest of the weights on a wood surface.

They are probably a bit small, but I don’t mind that much.

Close-up overhead shot of the pouch. The patchwork design is two rows of four circles in the centre, bordered by navy linen. The circles are in eight different blue fabrics, roughly ranging from darker to lighter across the pouch.

The pouch is also entirely made of stash fabric (are you proud?). The back and lining are both plain navy, so not too exciting. I like the texture of the hand-sewn running stitch around the central patchwork.

Overhead shot of the pouch, with some of the weights in the top left corner of the image. Above the pouch is a small booklet titled 'Patchwork Project Book'. It has five small patchworked projects on the front cover, one being the zipped pouch.

The project came from this little freebie booket from a (very old) magazine. The instructions didn’t specify the seam allowance to use, which may be why my circles are, ah, creatively asymmetrical.

Overhead shot of the author's hand above fabric laid out on a wood surface. On the fabric (which is beige) are pattern pieces for a small bag, weighed down by the pattern weights. The author's hand reaches out with a weight to weigh down a pattern piece. To the right of her hand is the pouch, a pencil, and a pin tin.

I can’t wait to put them to use! And if they’re too light, I can always whip up a few more – I have plenty of blue fabrics to choose from.

Anyways, see ya!
