Winter Knitwear

I’ve done quite a lot of crochet in my time, but I’ve never made a garment. Before now, that is!

The author stands in front of a white lattice, photographed from neck to thighs. She wears a textured crocheted tunic over a button-down shirt and navy pants. She has her hands behind her back, and is facing the camera.

This tunic pattern came from Simply Sewing #146, and it was pretty simple.

The author stands in front of a white lattice, photogrpahed from neck to thighs. She wears the crocheted tunic/button down shirt/navy pants combo, and is facing away from the camera so the back of the tunic is visible.

Only two panels, and some very nice textural stitches.

Close-up of the edge of the armhole of the tunic. The shoulder/neck area of the tunic is plain crochet, with a plain edging around the edge. The shoulder seam extends off the author's shoulder.

I’ve used wool yarn here, for maximum natural fibre warmth.

Close-up of the neckline area of the crochet tunic. The neckline is circular and quite high, with a small-ish plain border.

I plan to wear it when it’s cold around the house, as it’s a good versatile middle layer.

The author is photogaphed from neck to thighs, standing against the white lattice. She wears the tunic/shirt/pants combo, facing the camera with her hands in her pant pockets. The tunic is pushed up a bit to allow for this.

Of course, spring has sprung in my corner of the world, so I’ve managed to finish it just in time for summer. Ah well, it’s another reason to eagerly anticipate the return of autumn.
