Sunflower Fields

The embroidery is finished, but the hoop is not….

An embroidery hoop filled with embroidery is photographed flat on a wood surface. It has excess fabric fanning out around it, with two needles stuck into the corners. The embroidery is of a field of sunflowers, with tall conifer trees and a sunset in the background.

….and now it is!

The author holds the finished sunflower embroidery hoop in a bunch of daisy-shaped yellow flowers with dark brown centres. The excess fabric has been trimmed away and gathered behind the wooden hoop.

I received this embroidery hoop as a gift last year, and have only just now finished it. It was a kit, and a fun one too.

Close-up on a wood surface of the French knots used in the centre of the sunflowers and as background sunflowers. There is a mix of brown and yellow knots, and a mix of colours in the green around the flower heads.

I tried to blend the colours in the green field, and I used two different yellows for the sunflower petals, to add dimension.

The author holds the finished sunflower hoop in a bunch of yellow marigolds.

Both techniques, I think, worked really well! For now, I think this will live in my room somewhere.

Anyways, see ya!
