New (Bag) Horizons

I’ve ventured into new sewing territory this week – I’ve made a bag!

The author stands in front of a pale blue wall, wearing a peach top with navy pants. She is side-on to the camera, with hands in her pockets. Over her shoulder is a small, cream-coloured, circular bag.

I found this design in a library book called (creatively) Bags, by Anna Alicia, and loved this little design.

Close-up of the small cream bag. One of the sides of the bag is visible, showing the gold D-ring and the strap that loops into it. Also visible is a gold sliding buckle further up on the strap.

The pattern does not include an adjustable strap, but I added two D-rings and a sliding buckle from Etsy to make my strap adjustable.

Close-up of the circular bag. One side of the zip opening is pulled back so the lining is visible. The lining is a scale-print fabric, in shades of purple and green. The top edge of an inside pocket is also just visible.

I also put the pocket on the inside, rather than the outside.

The author stands in front of a pale blue wall, wearing a peach top and navy pants. She faces the camera, with one hand holding the cream bag. Her other hand is opening the zip on the bag.

All the fabric comes from my stash – I’ve no idea where this cream jacquard came from, but it works perfectly. I wanted a small netural-coloured bag I could take to events like weddings, because a previous bag I had for that purpose was disintegrating.

Birds-eye view shot of the bag, flat on a wood surface with zipper unzipped. Coming out of the zipper opening is a phone, a key, the author's portable sewing kit, and a pen.

It’s just the right size for the essentials – wallet, keys, phone, sewing kit, pen…..

I’m really happy with this little bag – it should serve its purpose well. Not that I go to many events, but you never know.

Anyways, see ya!
