Finally…. after two (ish) months of working on one project….. it is complete!

These pants are made from old men’s shirts, most of which were donated by my uncles (thank you!) and some of which I purchased from the op shop (thrift store).

I cut the shirts into squares, pieced them together on my treadle machine, then quilted them with a layer of cotton flanellette and an old sheet before cutting out the pattern pieces.

This is also a new pant pattern for me; I used the pants from the Peppermint Loungewear Set for these, with a few adjustments. (And yes, I did make a mockup before I quilted anything!)

Said adjustments were: lengthening them at the hem by 5cm, making the pocket edge straight rather than curved, and adding a separate waistband.

I am so happy with them! I wanted them for lounging around the house in winter, and they are definitely super comfy! They are actually a bit heavy, so they definitely feel like wearing a quilt. Probably because there’s three layers of fabric in everything. This pattern also has HUGE pockets, which if you’ve been here for any length of time, you will know that is a big win in my books.
I should also mention I was heavily inspired by From Carly B‘s fabulously bubbly and positive Youtube channel (and she’s actually made some very similar pants recently!), as well as @whatkimberlymakes on Instagram, specifically this reel here (though she does also have a Youtube video about the same topic).
Well, I have a second pair pieced and ready to go, so I guess I should get quilting before the cold weather passes again.
Anyways, see ya!
