Completed Cables

After eight long months…… the Irish Shores blanket is complete!

The author stands in front of a hedge, nearly completely obscured by a crocheted blanket she's holding up. The blanket is made of nine strips of crochet, joined together. There are five navy, two green, and two purple strips, arranged in alternating colours. Each strip has a cabled pattern similar to Celtic knotwork.

The pattern is by The Guy With the Hook, and the Etsy listing is here; I added two extra strips to the width and didn’t do the tassels.

The author stands in front of a hedge, photographed from neck to the ground. She's holding the crochet blanket to her chest, folded over a bit and scrunched up. It falls to just above her ankles, and the back of the crochet strips has no cabling on.

I also used Queensland Collection Coastal Cotton as an alternative to the recommended yarn, in the colours Seaweed, Navy, Concord, and Dusk for the border and connecting the strips together.

I absolutely adore my first crochet blanket! It is so soft and cosy, and it’s so nice to have on my bed on the cold nights. I feel like I need a Girl Guides badge or something, because First Crochet Blanket seems like a milestone in a crocheter’s craft.

I have started a second blanket (see here), but I may delay further progress on it until summer. My hands (and brain) need a break!

Anyways, see ya!
