Seasonally Late

I’ve made myself a new winter dress, just in time for spring! (Or autumn, for you northern hemisphere friends.)

The author stands in front of a hedge, photographed from neck to the ground. She wears a navy blue V-necked checked dress with buttons down the front. She also has brown boots on, and her hands are behind her back.

It is a pattern hack of Rosery Apparel’s Daisy dress – I raised the neckline and added long sleeves. I think this is my third Daisy dress – it’s a really nice pattern!

Rosery Apparel makes a similar dress in this tutorial, which I wanted to replicate. I was also inspired by Pyne & Smith, who use absolutely gorgeous fabrics for their dresses.

The author stands in front of a hedge, photographed from neck to hips. She has her hands clasped in front of her, allowing a closeup view of the bodice and sleeves of the dress. Said sleeves are slightly voluminous, and have a thick elastic casing at the hem. The hem lands about halfway down the author's forearm.

I also added one of my hanging loops, even though it probably won’t get used, because I find the facing flips out as you’re putting this dress on. This is sewn through the outside of the bodice as well as the facing, so the facing stays in place.

Close-up of the inside of the dress, where a rectangular hanging loop has been sewn into the back neckline facing.

I drafted the sleeves myself, and I would’ve liked them to be a little longer, but these are still effective.

This fabric came from Weft & Warp, and it’s quite lightweight cotton. I could wear it in summer, but I don’t really want it to fade too much. Next winter, then.

Anyways, see ya!
