Polished in Pink

This pink V&A shirt is actually my first completed project of 2026!

The author stands in front of a hedge throughout, photographed from neck to thighs. She's wearing a bright pink button-up shirt with dark green pants. The shirt is tucked into her pants, and her body is at a three-quarters angle to the camera. Her hands are tucked into her pant pockets.

It is also replacing a similar-coloured fast fashion shirt I’ve had for ages, like my white and pale pink versions. I’m not throwing these old shirts away; they are being folded and put into storage in my wardrobe while I decide what to do with them.

The author wears the pink button-up shirt tucked into green pants. She's buttoning the cuff of one sleeve, with her torso facing the camera. The shirt has no collar, and the button placket finishes about midway down with a point.

I think my centre front plackets are getting neater with each attempt! Basting the point down by hand certainly helps, but it is still a very thick area to sew tidily.

Close-up of the collar and centre front button placket of the pink shirt. The four buttons are small and shell-iridescent. Only the bottom three are buttoned closed.

As always, I like putting an inverted box pleat at centre back – it’s just so smooth, yet the shirt is still voluminous.

The author stands with her back to the camera, so the back of the pink shirt is visible. It is very voluminous, and has an inverted box pleat at the centre where the back meets the yoke.

The author faces the camera again, wearing the pink shirt tucked into green pants. One arm hangs at her side, while the other is raised above the frame.

I do still have two final fast fashion shirts I’d like to make replacements for, but in the meantime, I have some fabric in fun colours waiting to get made up into shirts – I can’t wait!

Anyways, see ya!
