Three Years in the Making

This is my fifth V&A Customisable Shirt, and probably my new favourite.

The author stands in front of a white lattice with a vine growing over it. She's photographed from neck to thighs. She's wearing a long-sleeved shirt, patterned with purple paisleys on a white background, with pale grey pants. Her hands are clasped in front of her as she faces the camera.

This fabric is linen that I purchased three years ago while on holidays, with this very pattern in mind. (I was certainly thinking ahead!)

The author stands in the same place and wears the same outfit as the last image, photographed from neck to thighs. She has her arms crossed over her chest, and is at a three-quarter angle to the camera. The shirt has a collar stand, but no collar.

I am so happy that I’ve finally made it up into this dreamy shirt, because it is gorgeous.

The author stands in the same place and wears the same outfit as the first image, photographed from neck to thighs. She faces away from the camera, so the back of her shirt can be seen. It has a subtle pleat at the centre back of the yoke.

The buttons came off a shirt I used for my patchworked quilted pants last year, which meant I didn’t have to wait for buttons to come in the mail!

Close-up of the centre front button placket of the author's shirt. The buttons are creamy-white, and the placket ends at a point at about mid-torso.

It’s quite a loosely woven linen, too, so it should (hopefully!) be nice and cool.

The author stands in the same place and wears the same outfit as the first image, photographed from neck to thighs. The sleeves are rolled up to about her elbows, and she has one hand on her hip and the other hanging in front of her. The wrong side of the fabric is a lot paler than the right side, making the rolled-up sleeves quite obvious.

One thing I did notice while making this shirt is that I am getting a wee bit bored of this pattern at the moment. (I guess it comes with making five in a row!) I think I need to pivot to other projects for a little while – just to get my sew-jo back, as they say. I still have six or so fabrics waiting to get made up, so I won’t leave it too long!

Anyways, see ya!
