Tea-Dyed Wallpaper

I mentioned a couple of posts ago that I was trying out new things for Sarah’s bedroom. Those ‘new things’ were tea-dyeing paper, which I’ve used on Sarah’s bedroom walls.

Sarah stands in her room, which has been emptied of furniture. She stands near one of the walls, running a hand gently over it. The wall is a pale cream colour, with darker splotches and tears in places. Chip is in the background, also looking at the new walls from a lower vantage point.

With all the furniture moved in; I love the effect it gives! I wanted cream-coloured paper without having to purchase new paper, so this is computer paper dyed with old, undrinkable tea.

Sarah sits on her bed in her bedroom, looking around. She wears pink corduroy shorts with a blue checked shirt and red shoes. The walls are the same tea-dyed cream as before. To the right of the bed is her bedroom door, which is now a darker wood with a white bead as a doorknob.

While I was focusing on the walls, I gave Sarah’s bedroom door and the window a bit of a spruce-up too.

Chip looks out the window near Sarah's desk, beside the telescope. The window has new dark trim, and the inner window frames have been painted black. Sarah's (messy) desk is visible in the foreground, as well as the back of the desk chair. The walls are tea-dyed cream.

The tray I used to dye the paper in was quite small, which meant the paper tore in a few places as I was handling it. I like the texture this gives to the walls, but I also want to try again with a bigger tray!

Sarah leans on the wall near her desk, with her bookcase in the background. She has her hands in her shorts pockets, and is looking to the left of the image. Her desk is covered in its usual clutter; open books, pencils, a candle.

Sarah sits on her bed, leaning against the wall with her legs tucked up beneath her. She has her shoes off, and a book in her lap. Her hair is out of its ponytail, loose behind her back.

I almost don’t want to put up any art, because that would cover some of the texture! Nothing’s decided yet, though, so for the time-being, I’ve diverted my attention elsewhere in this room.

Anyways, see ya!
