Little Sewing Projects

It’s been raining all day in my corner of the world, so what better to do than start a whole bunch of little sewing projects?

First off, I use this bag for groceries, and the jute handles have worn away.

A jute grocery bag's handles are photographed against a white background. The tops of the handles are ragged and frayed, exposing the plastic centres of the handles.

You can see the plastic core to them quite clearly.

Close-up of the damage to one of the handles. There's a couple of chunks of fabric hanging on, but most of it's reduced to loose threads.

I mended these handles with some scrap fabric, like I’ve done before.

The same jute bag, again photographed against a white background. This time, the ragged bits of the handles have been covered with fabric. The fabric is blue, and has white daisies on it.

I also added some reinforcing stitches at the base of one of the handles in white, as it was half-coming-off.

I’ve also started this little felt embroidered decoration.

A rectangle of yellow felt is photographed against a wood background. On the felt is a dark green egg, with appliqué and embroidery on it. The appliqué is in light green, pink, and yellow. The embroidery is in progress, as there is a needle with thread in the felt.

I plan to make a post soon with more details, but I’m having loads of fun with it at the moment.

The same green egg on yellow felt, again photographed against a wood background. More of the embroidery is complete - there are a row of flowers in the middle, and some of the appliqué has embroidery within the shapes.

These are all just felt scraps from my stash; it feels good to be using some of them up. What are you up to? Is it raining where you are?

Anyways, see ya!
