Project Roundup

Firstly, I’ve decided to make myself some nice sewing equipment, mainly some pattern weights and a wrist pincushion.

These here are the rectangles for the pattern weights:

Overhead shot of 12 fabric rectangles laid out in a circle. Each is a shade of blue, and they all have a different pattern on them. Most are florals, but there are some other patterns as well.

I chose an assortment of blues from my stash.

The stuffing process of the pattern weights. All the rectangles have been sewn together; some are stacked in squares, awaiting stuffing, others are already stuffed and pinned into triangular prism shapes. There is also a small dish of clay blind-baking weights, a pin tin, and a large tin of fabric scraps in the top left corner, mostly out of shot. Two of the weights are being stuffed.

I’m filling them with blind-baking weights and scrap fabric, so they should be weighty enough to hold down a pattern.

Overhead shot of various rectangles and squares laid out on a wood surface. There are eight blue patterned squares in the centre, with navy linen rectangles around the outside. Above all these is a navy zip.

I’m also making a patchwork zipped pouch to store them in, again in similar blues from the stash. This will be the front panel; the back panel will be plain navy.

Overhead shot of three balls of dark grey yarn on a wood surface.

These balls of yarn came in the mail recently, too. I ordered them from Bendigo Woollen Mills, and they are b i g.

Hazel stands beside one of the balls of grey yarn, with one hand resting on it. The ball reaches to about her waist in height.

Hazel for scale – there’s 400m of yarn in here!

Overhead shot of one of the balls of yarn next to an open page from a crochet magazine and some hooks. The magazine shows a sleeveless tunic with raised cables in rows up the bodice.

I am going to use them to make this crochet tunic, from a recent Simply Crochet magazine. The yarn is 100% wool, so it should be nice and warm. Will it be complete in time to wear this winter? Only time will tell…..

Anyways, see ya!
