Self-Drafted Singlet

I’ve been drafting my own patterns again! This time I’ve made a singlet top, ready for the summer heat.

The author stands in front of a white lattice, which has a vine growing up it. She wears a singlet top in a blue paisley pattern with black pants. Her hands are behind her back, and she's photographed from neck to hips.

The instructions came from Sewing Love by Sanae Ishida, which I have mentioned on here before.

I purchased this gorgeous fabric as a remnant at the craft store, and it’s incredibly lightweight.

The instructions said to use bias binding to bind off the neck and armhole openings. This first attempt was okay – I used premade binding from my stash, which was way too wide.

Close-up of the singlet top, taken flat on a wood surface. The neckline of the top is visible, showing the denim bias binding used to finish the neckline.

The instructions did say to make your own binding with the excess fabric, so perhaps I’ll try that next time.

There will be a next time, too – I want to make one in a nice light grey. Hopefully I can find another beautiful remnant!

Anyways, see ya!
