Patchwork Stars

With December, comes the need to make some Christmassy stuff, even though it’s the first day of summer here.

These little star decorations are what I’ve been working on recently, to get in the festive spirit.

Three star-shaped Christmas decorations are laid out on a wood surface. They are each made of six diamonds of Christmas fabric, sewn into star shapes. They all have red ribbon as hanging loops, and a gold sequin sewn in the centre. From left to right, the colour schemes are: white and red, red and green, and green and black.

The pattern and tutorial for these little stars came from the MadeJustSew blog, and they’re called EPP Christmas Stars.

I added the sequin in the centre, because my patchwork skills are still developing. Also, a little sparkle never hurts!

I’ve been using scraps of Christmas fabric I used last year to make furoshiki wraps to make these, so they’re a fantastic scrap buster!

Birds-eye view of two in-progress star decorations on a wood surface. One is being sewn together, and the other is two separate stars. Thread and a needle curls away from the one being sewn. Around the stars are scattered ribbons, a pair of scissors, and gold sequins.

And I have a couple more in the works, along with a whole heap of Christmassy scraps from a friend to get stuck into. How many will I have by the end of this? Who knows.

Anyways, see ya!
