Project Roundup

It feels like there’s loads happening behind the camera at the moment! Some of those things are gifts, so they need to stay secret, but in the meantime, I’ve been dyeing more socks for myself.

Three pieces of plastic plumbing pipe rest on the racks of a square washing line. Both ends have scrunched-up, vibrantly dyed socks on them. The pipes (and socks) are in the sunlight in the author's backyard.

These were completed last weekend, and I’m happy with the different colour combinations I did this time. The brown is more of a rust brown than I thought it would be, but I don’t mind.

The finished dyed socks are laid flat on a wood surface. There are three pairs of socks, in three different colourways; one of each sock is in the centre, with the other of each sock around the outside. One pair is dyed in pink and yellow stripes, one pair in purple and green, and one pair in blue and brown. Heart graphics cover the logos on the soles of the socks.

I made this dress in January last year as a wearable mockup for a different dress.

The author stands outside, under a dark archway, photographed from neck to ground. She wears a midi-length dress with white shoes. The dress is covered in books with a blue background, and has a wide boatneck and puffy sleeves. The author is holding the gathered skirt out, so the book print is visible.

I love the fabric, but I am not a fan of the puffy sleeves any more. So I spent this weekend unpicking them….

A sleeve is being cut out of a scrap of the book dress' fabric, photographed from overhead on a wood surface. The scrap looks like the old puffy sleeve of the dress, with a smaller sleeve pattern piece pinned to it. Around the fabric is scraps, a pincushion, an unpicker, and the pattern pouch for the dress.

….cutting new ones, and stitching them on.

The author stands in front of a hedge, photographed from neck to hips. She's wearing the book dress with a dark brown belt. The sleeves are now slim cap sleeves, in the same fabric as the dress. The author's hands are behind her back.

I think these cap sleeves look much better! The whole dress is a bit more simple now, especially with such a busy print.

A number of crochet squares are laid flat on a wood surface, photographed from above. Most of them are in four rows of nine, with two extras at the bottom. They alternate each row in colour; peach, purple, and grey.

In-between all of that, this square blanket has been slowly growing too. I’ve finished four rows of squares, which means I’m a third of the way through the project!

Hang on, what if you count connecting all the squares and finishing the border as a section of the project? Then this would be only a quarter finished. It’s a milestone either way, I reckon!

Anyways, see ya!
