Tank Top Try #2

Happy New Year! Hope it’s a bountiful and healthy year for you all. 🙂

I did not taken a break from sewing over Betwixtmas, of course, and took the opportunity to whip up this sleeveless top.

The author stands in front of a lattice with a vine growing through it. She's photographed from neck to thighs. She is wearing a sleeveless top with navy pants, and her hands are in her pant pockets. The top's fabric has pink, red, purple, and white flowers on it, in very washed-out, pastel hues. The neckline is curved.

And I do mean whip up; this took me two days, from cutting out to final hem. It’s a self-drafted pattern from the book Sewing Love by Sanae Ishida.

The author stands in front of a lattice with a vine growing through it. She's photographed from neck to thighs. She has her back to the camera, so the back of her sleeveless top is visible. The back neckline is also scooped a little, and the back hem is longer than the front hem. She still wears her navy pants.

I made bias binding from the leftover fabric this time, as the instructions suggest; I think it looks very neat and tidy.

Close-up of one of the armholes of the tank top, laid flat on a wood surface. The bias binding used to finish the armhole is visible, and is the same fabric as the outside.

For my first version of this top I used purchased binding, which did not work quite so well.

The author stands in front of a lattice with a vine growing through it. She's photographed from neck to thighs. She faces the camera, both hands holding the hem of the sleeveless top to emphasise the loose, airy fit of it.

Like my first attempt, on the other hand, it’s very lightweight, loose-fitting, and cool.

The author stands in front of a lattice with a vine growing through it. She's photographed from neck to thighs. Still wearing the sleeveless top and navy pants, she has one hand hanging at her side and the other raised out of frame. She's slightly angled to the right of frame.

I haven’t had much cause to wear this top since I made it, however; summer hasn’t been that bad this year. (Of course I say that, and we’re going to get slammed with hot weather now.)

Anyways, see ya!
