Summer Mending

I am officially starting on my list of summer mending, because it has officially passed the Autumn Equinox and is, therefore, autumn. *pointed look at the sky*

First to get fixed is my black-and-white checked skirt, which I made nearly three years ago now (yikes). Since I made it, the elastic has loosened a bit, so I unpicked one side of the waistband….

….and yoinked the elastic in a bit, until it was snug again. And re-stitched the waistband shut, of course.

Success!

The other garment under the unpicker is this singlet/tank top I made two years ago. My problem with it was the bias binding – I used pre-made binding, which was too thick for such lightweight fabric.

So, I removed the old binding, then made fresh binding with the scrap fabric I kept.

Then that gets measured to size and sewn on….

….and she’s done! Doesn’t it look better? I think I’m getting better at using bias binding, too – all the curves seem to be sitting flatter on this one. Though, I haven’t tried this top on yet, and it’s just been ironed. We’ll see!

Have you been mending anything recently?

Anyways, see ya!
