Bookshelf Revamp

Remember this old bookshelf that was in Sarah’s room? Also, remember how I said I wanted to renovate Sarah’s abode a few weeks ago?

Sarah stands next to a white shelving unit. The shelving unit has a cupboard at the base with two doors. Above it are three shelves, including the top of the cupboard. Sarah wears a khaki jacket with navy pants and black shoes, and is facing the shelves. She has one hand resting flat on the side of the shelves.

Well, that renovation process has begun, with this bookshelf!

Sarah stands next to a dark wood bookshelf. It has five shelves, no cupboard, and is slightly taller than Sarah. She wears the same khaki jacket, navy pants, black shoes combination. She has her arms crossed and is smiling, looking at the new bookshelf.

I used as many of the same pieces of cardboard as I could, while adding a little bit of decoration at the top here.

Close-up of the top shelf and the top of the bookcase. Underneath the top is an extra beam, shaped to be pointy in the middle and ends with soft curves between the points. It's been painted dark brown, a very close colour match to the wood.

It’s looking pretty good in situ. It is also half the width of the old bookshelf, so it takes up less floorspace.

The bookshelf stands in the corner of Sarah's bedroom. It's in the same recess as Sarah's bed, in the opposite corner. On the shelves are a few books and a small silver horse statue. The bed has a few cushions on it, and a crocheted blanket at the foot. The walls of the room are white.

Sarah’s had a duffel bag full of books at the foot of her bed for a week now, so she’s eager to unpack them all onto the shelves.

Sarah stands next to the bookshelf, with several books in her arms. She looks at the shelves, which are covered in stacks of her novels, a few textbooks and notebooks, and some silver horse statues. There are also a few books on the bed.

There’s so much more shelf space – she’s gone from three shelves to five.

Sarah sits on her bed, looking at the books on it. She's made a few piles on the bed, and has her hands resting on one each. The bookshelf is still in a state of disarray, though slightly less than before.

What will you do with the extra space?

Probably fill it with more books.”

Yeah, that checks out. (I’d do the same.)

Anyways, see ya!
