Versatile Black

This has to be the, what? Fifth pair of these pants I’ve made? These, dark grey, pale grey, dark green, turquoise. Yeah, fifth pair.

The author stands outside, against a hedge. She's photographed from the waist down. She wears black linen pants, a pink pirate shirt, and black boots. The pants have a solid waistband and four pleats in the front. The author has her hands in the pockets of the pants, and is facing the camera.

I sewed the invisible zip in by hand, and I’m quite happy with how invisible it is.

Close-up shot of the invisible zip closure of the black pants, also giving a good view of the pocket opening and front pleats.

This pattern is one of my favourites. I think it’s also the only pant pattern I have. Maybe someday I’ll make pants with a fly, or belt loops, but today is not that day.

The author poses (awkwardly) against a hedge, standing on grass. She wears black linen pants, a pink pirate shirt, and black boots.

This is heavyweight black linen from The Fabric Store, so it will be nice and warm for winter. I ordered this fabric online for the first time, along with some navy linen.

The author poses against a hedge, standing on grass. She wears black linen pants, a pink pirate shirt, and black boots. Her body is angled away from the camera, with her far hand on her hip and her near hand hanging beside her.

I actually ordered two metres for these pants, and managed to fit them onto just over half of the fabric. I’m thinking of using the leftover fabric for a matching waistcoat, but that will be a job for next winter, I think.

Anyways, see ya!
