Patchwork Chaos

Because it is still hot and humid where I live, I thought I’d make Tiffany something patchworked after many a hot afternoon spent watching Carly B on Youtube.

Tiffany stands outside, with a grey fence and some weeds in the background. She faces the camera, hands by her sides, smiling down at her dress. Said dress is completely mis-matched; a patchwork of many different fabrics of all colours and prints. It comes to just above her knees, and she has white shoes on.

She works quite a lot with patchwork using really colourful fabrics, so I raided my stash. These fabrics come from magazine freebies and offcuts from an old garment.

Tiffany has her arms outstretched, twirling in the patchwork dress. She faces away from the camera, so the back of the dress is visible. It's much the same as the front. The skirt of the dress is made of rows of squares of different fabrics whereas the bodice has a different fabric for each half of the front and back, as well as the sleeves.

It’s basically a couple of patchwork rectangles attached to a mis-matched shirt, but I like how chaotic it looks.

Tiffany faces the camera again in her patchwork dress, smiling at the camera. She has her hands in the in-seam pockets of the dress.

Of course, it has in-seam pockets. The pockets are all the same fabric, because people who haven’t made or tried on the dress can’t see them.

Tiffany has her arms outstretched, spinning in the dress. She's half-facing the camera this time, coming out of the tail end of the rotation.

Initially, I attached the skirt so it sat at Tiffany’s hips, which just didn’t look right. I’m so glad I unpicked it and re-gathered it at her waist; this dress needed to be cute and short and super-voluminous and fun.

I have plans in the pipeline to make something patchworked for my wardrobe, but it’ll be much more simple than this! The skirt took A While to sew together, so I’m not too keen to do something similar in a hurry.

Anyways, see ya!
