Project Roundup

Something I like to do with my self-drafted patterns is to give them a name and a pattern pouch; so, with the completion of my second self-drafted skirt, it is officially the Frances skirt.

A sewing pattern pouch for the 'MLIM Frances Skirt' and a corresponding instruction booklet are laid flat on a wood surface.

I also made a little booklet with the instructions to go with it, so I don’t have to find the magazine next time I want to make it.

The Frances skirt instruction booklet is held open (by the author's hand in the bottom corner) to pages 3 and 4, showing the typed instructions inside.

While on the whole pouch-making topic, I also made one for my tried-and-true pant pattern.

Two pattern pouches for the Simplicity 8457 pants are laid flat on a wood surface. On the left is the commercial one, with a model and diagrams. On the right is the author's homemade one, with her own photos o the front.

The commercial pouch is very tight for space, because it has a lot of sizes, so I thought this would be easier to grab and go. I might make a similar booklet for the instructions too, so it’s all self-contained.

I’ve also been making progress on Tea at Yaz’s – there is now a window box out the front!

Petra stands next to the window at the front of Tea at Yaz's, hands in pockets and smiling at the camera. Beneath the windowsill is a window basket with pink flowering plants growing inside.

Petra’s very happy to have more plants around.

Close-up of the window box. It is entirely crocheted; the box is a beige-yellow colour, the folaige is green, and the flowers are pink knots scattered in the foliage.

I’ve also been trialling different wall coverings for the interior.

Petra stands inside Tea at Yaz's, facing the wall next to the window. Propped up on that wall are two sheets of paper; one a plain cream colour, and one with a terracotta tile design. Petra has her hands in her pockets, thinking.

It looks like this cream-on-top, tile-on-bottom design looks the best, so the next step is to put it on the walls. Then I’ll need to re-do the floors – I want terracotta tiles, I think.

Anyways, see ya!
