A few months ago, I was in need of a luggage tag for travelling. So, as one does, I dug out some scraps….

….found a pattern, added a buttonhole by hand (of course)…..

….and I have a luggage tag!

I used a free pattern from a maker named Positively Splendid as my template. I can only provide you with a link to the PDF (here); I think the website has been taken down since I made this.

I put a rectangle of clear plastic in on top of my notecard, to protect said notecard at least a little bit from liquids.

I also extended the pattern to make my tag fold in half, to ensure information privacy.

And here it is in action, complete with terrible airport lighting and carpet. I left just enough length when I tied the tag on so it can be opened to see the information, should I be separated from my bag.
I like how bright it is, and I think I picked the perfect fabric from my stash. It also didn’t take very long at all – maybe a morning or so? Easy to squeeze in before your trip.
Anyways, see ya!
