Summer Skirt

Summer has decided to arrive in my area, and as such, summery clothes are required! Petra’s style has changed a little since last summer in favour of long skirts like this one.

Petra stands against a white brick background. She wears a white 'pirate shirt' with brown boots and a voluminous skirt in a blue, orange and white floral pattern. The skirt is gathered into the non-elasticated waistband. Petra's hands are in the side-seam pockets of the skirt, and she smiles at the camera.

I’ve been going back and forth about whether the volume is something I want to keep, but at the moment the hypothetical pendulum is at “keep it!”.

I find elastic waistbands quite fiddly, so this skirt has a solid waistband that fastens with a hook and eye in the back.

Close-up of the skirt's solid waistband and side seam, in which is a pocket opening that isn't visible. The skirt is very pouffy.

Obviously, with such a voluminous, swooshy skirt, some frolicking in a ‘field’ is required.

Petra stands on grass, with a wooden fence and a bougainvillea hedge in the background. She wears a white 'pirate shirt' with a voluminous floral skirt, in shades of white, blue, and orange. She is twirling on the spot, making the skirt billow out. She spins to the left as the camera sees it, with her plait swinging and arms out.

She has just come to a standstill facing the camera after twirling on the spot; her face is flushed, her long plait swings.

Hmmm…. the pendulum is really staying on the ‘keep the volume!’ side now….

It’s less work for me, anyways! And Petra doesn’t mind either way. In fact, I’ve been thinking of making myself a similarly swooshy skirt for summer. I still have other projects to finish first, but it’s lingering in the back of my mind.

Anyways, see ya!
