The Most Portable Pencilcase

I did plan on taking photos of the construction process of this latest sewing project, but it was such a quick make that taking photos completely slipped my mind!

Three small rectangles of fabric are laid flat on a wood surface. They are all of similar size; one has blue TARDISes on it, and the other is grey and red. Above the rectangles is a small piece of navy bias binding and a small piece of elastic.

But here is the pen holder, complete!

A fabric pen holder is laid flat on a wood surface. It is a rectangle of grey and red fabric, with elastic attached at each end to make a loop. There are three tubes sewn onto the bottom half with the TARDIS fabric, two of which hold writing implements. A loop of elastic at the top holds a rubber.

The tutorial I used was from a blog called The Seaman Mom, which was very easy to follow. The only modification I believe I made was adding the loop at the top for a rubber/eraser.

The pen holder is wrapped around an A5 notebook, with the elastic at the back and the pens at the front. Said notebook is laid flat on a wood surface. There are a couple of papers sticking out of the notebook.

I did find it was a bit tricky to keep the pen loops even while sewing, and I definitely should have added interfacing like they suggest – it is a bit floppy once it’s removed from the notebook.

The pen holder is laid flat on a wood surface, without a notebook. It has been emptied of its contents, and the rubber, pen, and pencil are around it.

I use this pen holder for transporting minimal stationary to places, like a tabletop gaming session….

The pen holder and the A5 notebook from earlier are laid flat on a wood surface. The notebook is open to a blank page, and is on top of a Dungeons and Dragons character sheet. The pen holder is beside the notebook, empty of the rubber and pencil. Scattered across the character sheet and notebook is a set of seven purple dice.

The pen holder is wrapped around a different A5 notebook, which is photographed on a windowsill. Outside the window is some trees, a boardwalk, and the sea.

….or on holidays! (If you are the sort to take a notebook on holidays.) (In my defense, I was (and am still) designing a crochet pattern!)

Anyways, see ya!
