Layering

Layering pieces in a wardrobe can be very handy to have, regardless of the size of the person or the wardrobe. Or the season!

Hazel stands in front of a white brick background. She wears a beige-and-white pinstriped skirt, which is gathered at the waistband and is about midi-length. It is worn with a white floral V-necked top and white shoes. Hazel has a hand pulling two of her braids over her shoulder, and is smiling at the camera.

Which is why I wanted to make Hazel this skirt – she can wear it under a longer skirt in winter for warmth, or over a dress in summer, or with a top whatever the weather, like this.

Close-up of one of the patch pockets on the beige-and-white pinstriped skirt, both of which are near the side seams. Hazel's hand is in the pocket, and two of her braids hang down close by. The solid waistband of the skirt is also visible.

I thought I’d do patch pockets for this skirt, for something a bit different.

Hazel stands outside, on a concrete path with a wooden fence behind her. She is spinning on the spot, arms out and braids flying. Her beige-and-white pinstriped skirt is flaring out with the momentum, which she wears with a floral shirt and white shoes. A massive grin is on her face.

The all-important Swoosh Test, in progress. (Conclusions: Very swooshy!)

At the moment, it’s secured at the back with some Velcro, but that isn’t holding, unfortunately. I might try sewing on a hook & eye and see how that goes.

Anyways, see ya!
