Naturally, being a bookstore, Flourish & Blotts needs a counter for visitors to adopt books from.
The middle shelf is filled with notebooks, because using parchment all the time seems a bit ridiculous to me. Besides, there might be Muggle-borns who visit and just want notebooks for schoolwork.
The bottom shelf lifts out (once the textbooks are removed!) to reveal storage for the display book covers. I’m quite happy with this, as it’s completely inconspicuous until you know about it. I suppose that means a spy could hide something important in here…
I also made a little cash register with a tiny keyboard. That keyboard nearly made me go cross-eyed!
I might still make a freestanding bookshelf for the store, and I have ideas about a possible reading nook too, with a similar atmosphere to the Gryffindor common room.
And of course, more books are always in need. π
Anyways, see ya!

I love the secret compartment…everything is better with one of those! (I also spy one of my current reads, “Wonder Woman: Warbringer.”) It’s amazing how realistic your miniatures look. Is Sarah going to work at the bookstore? She looks right at home behind the counter! π

Everything is better with secret compartments, I agree! I loved Wonder Woman, there’s so much diversity in it, and a good few female friendships really don’t hurt either. Sarah probably will work at the bookstore, once the population of Diagon Alley is higher. Thank you for commenting! π

It. Is. ADORABLE!!!! π The space underneath the bookshelf is very nifty. I would mind having something like that for my bookshelf. Great work! π

Thank you! I hadn’t thought about it in a real bookshelf, that would be very useful. Perhaps for secret papers? π

Yeah. Or books you want to hide from siblings. (snickers evilly)

Quick question, do your dark-covered books (award potion making, Hogwarts history) open up and/or have pages you can flip through?

They do open up, towaco5oh, though there isn’t anything on the pages. Thanks for the question! π
