Jacket Renovation

Do you remember Sarah’s khaki jacket that I made ages ago? Well, I like to think my outerwear-making skills have improved somewhat….

Sarah, a white-skinned woman with brownish hair, stands in front of a white brick background. She wears a turquoise playsuit with paisley patterns underneath a khaki jacket that has embroidery on the sleeves. The jacket is clearly too small, and has lots of wrinkles at the shoulder-underarm area. Sarah has a hand on each front panel of the jacket, and looks to the left of the camera.

So, here is the new-and-improved version!

Sarah looks straight at the camera, smiling. She wears the turquoise playsuit underneath a very similar khaki jacket. The sleeves have the same embroidery on them, and the collar is the same stand-up style, but the torso fits her much better. A white brick background is behind her.

I kept as much as I could of the original jacket, which includes the sleeves (because that embroidery was difficult).

Sarah stands in front of a white brick background wearing the playsuit and the khaki jacket. She holds one arm in front of her, looking down at it with a smile. The embroidery on the sleeve is visible - it is a shield shape, with a dark blue background and a pale purple centre.

Unfortunately, I did have to re-make the collar, as the original collar was too short for this new neckline.

Close-up of Sarah's khaki jacket's collar, which stands upright similarly to a Nehru collar. The other sleeve's embroidery is also visible - it is two yellow arrowheads pointing up, outlined in black.

The body of the jacket is lined with some scrap cotton sateen from a project I have yet to show you, which I think goes really well with the khaki.

Sarah stands in front of a white brick background, holding her jacket out towards the camera. The side facing us is the lining, which has the sheen of a satin-weave fabric. It's navy blue with an intricate paisley pattern on top in reds, blues, yellows, and greens. The inside of the collar is also visible.
Sarah stands at a window in her apartment, a mug of hot chocolate in her hand. She wears the khaki jacket and playsuit combo, and is looking out at the rather heavy rain falling outside. Her view looks out over a city, with a balcony in the foreground. Behind her are white brick walls, and behind her head is a bright piece of art.

I would have taken photos outside, but it has not stopped raining for three days (at least, in Sarah’s world), so it would have been covered by her raincoat.

I am much happier with how it fits now – the original one was way too small! I do need to modify the pattern to make the neckline a bit smaller, as it dips down quite a bit at the back of the neck.

Anyways, see ya!
