Hey guys! It’s Petra here! I’m guest-writing this post today, because my family’s restaurant, Tea at Yaz’s, is open! I wanted to give you guys a tour, so come along! Alright, when you come in the door, this is what you see first; the counter. I’m behind here a lot because I’m the best barista…… Continue reading Touring Tea at Yaz’s
Long Sleeves
Petra’s wardrobe has been diversified with this long-sleeved top. The sleeves are set-in, which I’m very happy about! This is the first time I’ve done set-in sleeves and it’s worked. I wanted something less bulky than the jumpers, so it could fit better under overalls…. ….and low-necked to allow for a scarf. I used the…… Continue reading Long Sleeves
Flower Pots
Without flowers…. ….and with flowers! These big pots are the last element I need for Tea at Yaz’s courtyard (for now). There’s bougainvillea in the bottom pot, the blue flowers are oleias flowers, and I haven’t thought of a name for the yellow-orange flowers yet. The oleias flowers are used to treat minor skin-level injuries,…… Continue reading Flower Pots
Old/New Bag
Sarah’s old leather bag has started to crack, so she was in need of a bag that would last, which was a quick in-between project! I reused the front buckle from the old leather bag, and I added a buckle on the strap…. ….and D-rings on the sides. This bag is also lined, which I…… Continue reading Old/New Bag
Project Roundup
I’ve made three large pots for Tea at Yaz’s, seen here with the smaller pot for scale, so now they’re all ready for Petra to plant some plants in. I also finished adjusting her grey pants! I made the legs slimmer, put on a new waistband and made the elastic inside tighter to stop them…… Continue reading Project Roundup
Hanging Baskets
The Tea at Yaz’s courtyard is just beginning to bloom. with these hanging baskets! There are two types of plant here, the two (fictional!) dragontail plants and a crepe myrtle. They have lots of buds on them, and a few early flowers. I attached them to the walls by pushing two thin pieces of wire…… Continue reading Hanging Baskets
Re-Made Jumper
In order to re-knit a jumper, sometimes you’ve got to completely unravel two of the sides (the front and back are the bundles of yarn just under this text). Then you’ve got to sew it together…. ….and you’re good to go! I’m very happy with the neckline, because I usually cast off really tightly. This…… Continue reading Re-Made Jumper
Chilly Courtyard
Work has started on the courtyard! The main things I wanted to make for this space were cushions for the chairs…. ….and a suitable table. I painted the top to look like marble, so the table could get rained on. The main thing this space needs now is lots of plants! (And possibly an entrance,…… Continue reading Chilly Courtyard
Drinks & Lanterns
Two more details were added to Tea at Yaz’s, first is this simple drinks menu: As well as lanterns, for the tables: I made two square ones and a pentagonal one, all with little rings on top for holding or hanging. (The two lying-down rings don’t actually move, unfortunately!) They’ve each got a little candle…… Continue reading Drinks & Lanterns
What’ll It Be?
I got two more Tea at Yaz’s details made, starting with a pair of aprons for waitstaff! Both aprons have a working pocket and an adjustable neck strap, which I’m very happy with. That pocket is a great place to pop some table menus if your hands are full! The text describes actual meals served,…… Continue reading What’ll It Be?
