Tiffany’s new dress is strongly based on one I own, though there were a few artistic liberties. I was also trying out a more fitted bodice, and a circular skirt. The neckline has a facing, which I do like. It doesn’t have pockets (I know!), but that’s because this fabric is very hard to work…… Continue reading Artistic Liberties

Petra’s Birthday Explorations
Petra’s birthday was on Monday, and she requested a trip to the local park for a wander, which of course, I documented. We saw a few cockatoos grazing across this little stream, which had a lovely reflection of the sky. Then we followed this forested path down to the boardwalk along the river. Then we…… Continue reading Petra’s Birthday Explorations
Gathered Shirt
Hmmm, I think this shirt needs something more…. That’s better! For my first time sewing gathers, I think it looks pretty good! It’s something a bit different, anyways, and it would definitely hide any messy waistbands! And then we found these flowers! I think they look very rainforest-y, and of course, Petra loves them. As…… Continue reading Gathered Shirt
Bookstore Beginnings
Sarah’s local bookstore is coming along really well in its renovations! This is the finished storefront: There’s a little palace/castle in the sign, which I think is really cute. The window frame is also raised, so the display is still changeable. Maybe I should do this for all the shops…. Let’s see how it’s going…… Continue reading Bookstore Beginnings
Project Roundup
Sarah’s local bookstore is getting a renovation, so I’ve been doing a lot of planning for that at the moment. Below is where I’m at right now; I need more paper for the door, and there’s stuff I still need to decide on for the window and sign. But I do love the window in…… Continue reading Project Roundup
Orange Stripes
I first saw Tiffany’s new pants in an op shop, and I instantly knew that she’d love them. They had a tied or elasticated waist, which I’ve replicated as best as I can in miniature. The original had the stripes printed onto the fabric, which I recreated with pieces of ribbon sewn onto the fabric…… Continue reading Orange Stripes
2020 in Review
As many long-time readers may know, I like to sum up my blogging year in a series of photos, one from each month. As per long-standing tradition, here are this year’s photos! January: February: March: April: May: June: July: August: September: October: November: December: My goals for this year were to complete an embroidery hoop,…… Continue reading 2020 in Review
Growing Sunflowers
The sunflower stitching has been growing steadily over the past week! I’ve made it all the way down to the basket they sit in…. ….and I’m now starting to work my way across to the right. There are lots of pastel colours in the background, which will look gorgeous. I plan to do the ground…… Continue reading Growing Sunflowers
Red Jersey
For Tiffany’s next project, she will take this red jersey…. ….and turn it into a cute singlet top! Because it’s all jersey, and thus nice and stretchy, it has no velcro in the back; it’ll slide on from her feet. It’s definitely nice and cool, and the dark red colour is festive too! I think…… Continue reading Red Jersey
Summer Sewing
“Hey Petra! I got this pink corduroy in the mail for the shop, and I thought it would look great as a pair of shorts for you. What do you think?” Petra said yes, and a week later, we have our result! Because the corduroy’s a bit thick, Tiff used a pink floral cotton in…… Continue reading Summer Sewing
