My bakery’s front façade is coming along slowly – here we’ve got the exterior brickwork done…. ….and the addition of a window. The plan is to have the name of the bakery painted onto the glass of the window, which will hopefully look really good! I’m also sewing together all the squares for my cushion…… Continue reading Project Roundup

Quick Refresher
Recently, I took Sarah and Petra along on a weekend away. The first place we went to was a small museum complex. Outside, we found this very cheery fence of ‘sunflowers’…. ….and inside, we found this horse and cart that had been yarnbombed! I loved the little granny square on the step in the photo…… Continue reading Quick Refresher
Hazel’s Cape
I decided to go the obvious route with Hazel’s outerwear, and make a pink knee-length cape first. It’s got hand-bound armhole slits, and is lined with this floral fabric from my stash. The background of this fabric is a very pale pink, which I thought suited it quite well. We went to a nearby botanic…… Continue reading Hazel’s Cape
Meet Hazel
The new friend I mentioned in my last Project Roundup is finished – meet Hazel! She loves cooking and baking (but especially baking!), and enjoys trying out new recipes on her friends. She has plans to work at the new bakery that’s being built, and a notebook full of ideas for potential sweets to fill…… Continue reading Meet Hazel
Waistcoat Adventures
So, I found a waistcoat at my local thrift store a few weeks ago, and loved it so much I decided to make my own waistcoat that was even better. Last Friday, I sewed on the last button, and today, it got photographed! Both the pockets on the front work, as you would probably expect…… Continue reading Waistcoat Adventures
Micro-Crochet Earrings
Remember this little pouch I embroidered a while ago? Well, I found a use for it…. ….it’s filled with little crocheted earrings that I’ve been making over the past little while. I’ve made quite a few so far, loosely arranged into a few categories. The little jump rings loop onto your average sleeper earrings, so…… Continue reading Micro-Crochet Earrings
Project Roundup
The grey fabric in this stack has been made into its garment, it just needs the finishing touches. The other two pieces of fabric are going to become a sunhat when they’re complete. I’m also in the (slow) process of making Sarah another friend! This process always makes me think of Frankenstein, what with the…… Continue reading Project Roundup
Touring The Palace Library
Hello! It’s Sarah writing here, and I’ll be taking you on a tour of the Palace Library bookstore! Which looks like this: I’ve been helping the owner with the whole setting-up business, and I’ll be doing a few hours a week here now it’s open, so you’ll probably see me around. Let’s go inside! On…… Continue reading Touring The Palace Library
Final Touches
The last few books out of that last box are being unpacked today. “Alright, let’s get these over to the display table…” “….Hmm. I think this display needs re-arranging.” There we go! “Oooh, this one looks interesting…” We’re one week out from opening day now, and everything’s so close to ready! I know I keep…… Continue reading Final Touches
Final Deliveries
The Palace Library has had a few more deliveries recently, one from the book dealers and one from the printers. The owner (me) had a few flyers made to put up around the shop, and they look really good! (The ad for The Ghosts We Keep is from the real-life publishers, the other four were…… Continue reading Final Deliveries
