Do you remember Sarah’s khaki jacket that I made ages ago? Well, I like to think my outerwear-making skills have improved somewhat…. So, here is the new-and-improved version! I kept as much as I could of the original jacket, which includes the sleeves (because that embroidery was difficult). Unfortunately, I did have to re-make the…… Continue reading Jacket Renovation

Waistcoat the Second
I wore my grey waistcoat pretty much all of last winter, so this summer I wanted to make myself another one. I made this one a size smaller, because the original grey one was a little bit roomy around the chest. I really like the fabric I found for this one – it’s visually interesting,…… Continue reading Waistcoat the Second
Petra’s Birthday Dress
It was Petra’s birthday yesterday, so she went to Needle & Thread to pick up a special order. Tiffany had offered to make her a nice airy dress for the summer heat, and it’s finished! Thankfully, it fits! It’s a nice loose garment, so that isn’t particularly difficult. The length is good, and the pockets…… Continue reading Petra’s Birthday Dress
Hazel’s New Dress
Hazel has now got two dresses in her wardrobe! This one is very similar to the first one in terms of the bodice and skirt, fastening at the back with Velcro and a snap. It’s got very puffy sleeves and two darts at the chest. Either way, I think it will look great under aprons…… Continue reading Hazel’s New Dress
Project Roundup
I finally had the motivation to make a summer garland this week, after many years of having it sitting on the To-Make List. Below are the crocheted elements I’ve made so far – I need two more duplicates, and then they all need to be strung together. Sun, shell, and sunflower designs by Steffi Glaves…… Continue reading Project Roundup
Concessions to the Heat
I am not usually a dress or skirt person (especially considering the number of pants I’ve made) but when the weather is this hot, some concessions must be made. The pattern for this dress came from a library book that had been translated from Japanese, and I liked the lack of fastenings, the loose fit,…… Continue reading Concessions to the Heat
Project Roundup
Well, necessity has dictated that I make myself some more masks. It was loads of fun digging through my scraps to find some interesting prints – and a good opportunity to use up some smaller scraps of larger projects. I’ve also been making some more biscuits for the bakery…. ….and Hazel’s been wearing the same…… Continue reading Project Roundup
Completed Cosplay
With all the life-size garments I’ve been making recently, I felt I needed a little break from all the large, involved projects. So, I decided to dedicate a day or two to a small project – which led to the completion of my Ms Marvel cosplay! The small project in question was this arm bracer…… Continue reading Completed Cosplay
Navy Spots
These pants are one of two clothing items I made before Christmas, but I haven’t had the chance to show them here before now. They’re another pair of ‘Safiya’ pants from Tilly Walnes’ Make it Simple book – I’ve now made three pairs of these pants! The pockets are not in a contrasting fabric, because…… Continue reading Navy Spots
Multipurpose Aprons
Inevitably, with baking (and running a business), messes happen. Fierro’s got some aprons today, so Hazel’s clothes won’t be permanently stained by anything. I spent ages trying to work out how to get the gathering attached to the top half, and this solution doesn’t look too bad once it’s on. There are no pockets, but…… Continue reading Multipurpose Aprons
